For reviving one of America’s major film genres, Taylor Sheridan is hailed as the “father of contemporary Westerns.” Taylor Sheridan was born in Cranfills Gap, Texas, about an hour’s drive west of Waco, on May 21, 1970. He was raised in a rural, underdeveloped area of West Texas with limited access to contemporary comforts. Family problems impacted his early years. In an interview, Sheridan reflected on those times and said, “Where I grew up, my salvation was in the quiet.” In a manner, the ranch was the young Taylor’s lifeline.
He was an unsuccessful actor before finding success as a writer and director. He almost missed the mark. Sheridan made the decision to change the course of his narrative. “Sicario,” his first science fiction script, wasn’t meant to be a movie. “Sicario” had its world premiere on May 19, 2015, at the Cannes Film Festival, and on September 18, it was made available in the US.
