MARKETING STATEMENT

Metro has an opportunity for a Project Manager Railcar Vehicles - Office of Railcar Quality with expertise in railcar design and engineering to lead the procurement and delivery of new railcars for the Nation's Capital's Transit System. As a Program Manager Vehicles, you will manage complex railcar projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide design inputs through the design review process and work towards the goal of delivering, testing, and commissioning new railcars on schedule and within budget. You will manage a team responsible for providing Quality Assurance and Quality Control oversight of railcar maintenance and railcar component repair/overhaul.

In this role, you will make program-level decisions, ensuring proper engagement with stakeholders and the senior executive team to achieve consensus across the organization. You will also play a critical role in providing project updates and presentations to senior executives and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with subject matter experts with extensive knowledge of railcar operations, providing guidance to ensure the agency's best interests.

The preferred candidate should have experience in project management, railcar design and engineering, and experience with passenger railcar projects, including the testing and commissioning of rail vehicles.

This position requires onsite work and does not allow for a hybrid work schedule.

SUMMARY

The Project Manager - Vehicles leads, manages, and coordinates the various aspects of the manufacture, procurement, and testing of all new, rehabilitated rail cars/transit bus and/or their major sub-systems. Manages and coordinates processes associated with the program to include establishing priorities for WMATA and external consultants retained to assist in integrating engineering aspects, ensuring manufacture and assembly of the rail cars/transit bus meet contract specifications, testing rail cars/transit bus and ensuring that rail cars/transit bus are operational prior to final acceptance.
