Sabrina Ionescu left it all out on the court — but left some in a bucket.
The Liberty’s star guard — who had just hit a big 3-pointer midway through the fourth quarter of Game 4 in the WNBA Finals against the Las Vegas Aces at Barclays Center — went courtside during a timeout and threw up in a bucket as an assistant put a towel near the bucket, so the moment wasn’t fully seen on camera.
However Ionescu stayed in the game after the timeout.
ESPN sideline reporter Andraya Carter found a creative way to describe the scene.
“You talk about nerves in a finals moment,” Carter said. “Sabrina Ionescu who just hit a big 3 and then came over to the sidelines and lost the contents of her stomach.
“She told me that she gets nervous before games, but she went right back out, wiped off her chin and kept on playing.”
Despite the guts Ionescu showed, the Liberty dropped a crushing 70-69 season-ending loss to the Aces.
The Liberty guard had 13 points, three rebounds and three assists in the defeat.
With the win, Las Vegas has now won back-to-back titles — the WNBA’s first to do so in 21 years — after rallying from a 12-point second-half deficit.
The Aces joined the Los Angeles Sparks (2001-02) and the Houston Comets (1997-2000) as the only teams in league history to win consecutive titles.
New York drew dozens of celebrities to the game, including basketball royalty Sue Bird and Dawn Staley — the South Carolina coach who loudly cheered on her former star player, A’ja Wilson, who was named WNBA Finals MVP.
The two embraced in a long hug after the game.
Also in attendance were Liberty Ring of Honor members Vickie Johnson and Sue Wicks, and actors Jennifer Connelly, Issa Rae and Jason Sudeikis.
